Old Overholt is an appropriately old brand of rye whiskey and one half of “The Olds”, alongside Bad Santa’s favourite, Old Grand-Dad. It’s a classic straight rye produced by Jim Beam. Old Overholt Rye Whiskey has its origins as far back as 1810 when it was founded by brothers Abraham and Christian Overholt of Pennsylvania at the family farm that would become the West Overton Distilling Company. That distillery closed to Prohibition in 1920. Eventually, the label was sold to National Distillers, which was later absorbed by Beam Global of Fortune Brands, which produces the rye whiskey today.
